You are right in that the data I had to work with originally didn’t allow me to compare players apples to apples. However, I have since replaced the dataset and can now compare players at the same arc of their careers (ie D+7 to D+12 years). This allows a comparison of players in their primes years no matter which season they were drafted in. I have a little work left on the model and will share the results when I’m done.
