I don't have current data handy, but Michael Schuckers's analysis of draft pick values suggests that the average 3rd-round pick plays about 140 NHL games. That's more than you're going to get out of Giordano in the last year of his contract, though admittedly the quality of Giordano's play will probably be higher than the average third-rounder's.
Add in the fact that you are losing another player anyway, and that price may not be the no-brainer than some people think.
