The Flames before the salary cap were not in a rut of mediocrity. They were downright bad and in danger of going out of business entirely. I know; I was one of the few who stepped forward to buy season tickets to keep them from leaving town or folding. Mediocrity is an
improvement compared to what came before the cap.
