The only way I see giving up an asset to protect Gio, is if you can attain a better asset for him come TDL. Protect him by giving Seattle a 2nd, and then trade him for a first at the TDL, that makes sense. But there are no guarantees, so I would have a hard time giving up anything more then a 3rd rounder to shield him from Seattle.
