Peplinski played LW most of the time. His usual centre at that time was Joel Otto.
In the absence of injuries, the Flames' 88-89 forward lineup usually looked like this:
1. Colin Patterson – Doug Gilmour – Joe Mullen
2. Gary Roberts – Joe Nieuwendyk – Håkan Loob
3. Jim Peplinski – Joel Otto – Mark Hunter
4. Some combination of Jiri Hrdina, Lanny McDonald, Tim Hunter, Perry Berezan (traded mid-season), Theo Fleury (promoted mid-season), Brian MacLellan (acquired at deadline)
After Mark Hunter was injured in the playoffs, the third and fourth lines became a complete grab bag. Anybody could be anywhere from one night to another, except that Joel Otto was a fixture at 3C. There were basically 5 jobs for 7 men, and all of them were scratched at times.
