Guess I don’t consider “middle 6” consisting of players rotating in and out of the lineup. I’ll take your word that Lanny was middle 6 in ice time that game, not really how I remember it.
Maybe Dube is a captain years from now just thought the reference to Peplinski in 1989 didn’t really work.
IMO pro sports has changed since guys like Brad Marsh were team captains. There is an expectation of stars that they be faces of the franchise and you’d like the guys making the big money on your team to want that responsibility.
