He's a good player! I'd say he's still our best defenceman.
But if the Flames, as a team, are going nowhere anytime soon then it just doesnt make sense to spend assets to hold on to him.
I get loyalty. I get wanting to compete. But Gio is not going to be the guy to drag this motley group over the finish line.
If Seattle grabs him the Flames will most certainly be worse off for it.
Will it be the difference between winning the Cup or not? I doubt it
I just feel that on the current trajectory this team is on it isnt prudent to spend assets simply to hold on to him.
