I guess what I’m saying is you can do the wrong thing too by not using cap space properly either, if that wasn’t obvious enough in my post. I think specifically Francis could have made out like a prospect bandit here by taking on salary and acquiring a pile of picks and higher end prospects- like Vegas did, which propelled them to turn said prospects into star players and become one of the best teams in the NHL.

But as Jayrandom said recently, we don’t know that they haven’t done that yet I guess. We’ll see. But getting greedy and digging in- not making trades so you can say you have cap space to go likely blow on a (probable) ####ty UFA deal? Dumb, not the play I would have made, and I wonder if that’s coming.
