If you ran the Canucks, which one of Tyler Myers, Nate Schmidt, and Olli Juolevi would you expose so you could protect Giordano?
If you ran the Kings, which one of Drew Doughty (who has an NMC in any case), Olli Määttä, and (let's say) take your pick of Matt Roy and Sean Walker?
If you ran the Coyotes, most of whose NHL defencemen are headed to UFA at present, you wouldn't have a problem finding a protection slot. But where would you propose to find an extra $6,750,000 to pay Giordano with?
I don't see any of these teams as plausible destinations.

Vancouver could easily protect Gio... BUT they have 15M in cap space to sign Hughes and Petterson ... They would trade some limited asset for Gio but would want the Flames to retain a lot of salary.
