A 4th for his rights with a ~4m contract is about as high as I would go. We do however desperately need a top 6 RW with jam, and there doesn't look to be many other options available.

Does he play on the right side? Hockeydb has him listed as a left winger. If he can be a good RW, that makes the proposed deal a lot more palatable. If he is a LW and Treliving is looking at him, it probably means that Tkachuk or Gaudreau are going in another deal, so depending on what the return was, it could end up being a good thing. I find that it is better not to look at offseason wheeling and dealing moves in isolation, but rather wait and see how things add up when the season starts.

Yeah, I would rather drive the Brinks truck up to Landeskog. It's better to overpay on an elite player than a good player. And Hyman is good for sure, it's just that the term would be too long for that AAV.
If the Avs do let Landeskog go, I can see him landing in either Nashville or Carolina. I have no inside info obviously, just hunch based on teams that have both cap and a team that he would probably fit into perfectly.
