That's why I prefer using the metric of total NHL games played, rather than assigning an equal value to every player who reaches some threshold or other. Even that metric understates the value of the top players, but at least it doesn't pretend that they are no better than the tweeners who played some number of games but never rose above 4th line or #6 D. A partial correction is better than an uncorrected error.
