Apparently the Flames forwards suck anyways, according to this board:

- Monahan sucks, year over year decline, trending below replacement level, has no value;
- Backlund's contract sucks, worst in the league, and he only scores 50 points every year even while playing with plugs last year.

Why do we need to protect 7 forwards? Lindholm, Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Mangiapane. All 4 of these forwards can garner at least a 1st at the deadline, just like Gio. Everyone else sucks, no need to protect them.

Seattle won't take Monahan and Backlund cause they SUCK! Monahan and Backlund couldn't get you 7th round picks at the deadline.

Draft picks are currency right? If you can't get a 1st round pick at the deadline for a player, expose him.
