And wouldn’t the league have issue with a trade that has a secret condition attached to it that is not specified in the trade itself? You’re essentially talking about loaning a player which I assume you can’t do. Would be handy if you ever needed someone to beat a rival.

No the idea is you trade the player to the team
who uses that slot to protect the player
and then trades him back
Not trading the slot itself.
