If they charge for street parking it will absolutely be a giant thing that most people will get super pissed about, regardless of whether it’s actually that big a deal.
It is 100% the case that taxes have continued to go up, service is stagnant or dropping because it’s still underfunded, and there is increasing friction between the city and various groups as the city pushes a vision that clashes with what a lot of people think they want.
It’s not a question of whether it’s reasonable for people to act like the end times are here - given what the City will absolutely be facing budget wise over the next decade, it’s gonna be ugly. If you think otherwise, you don’t understand how populism works.
