Now, we all can't trade with the Oilers every time, what a gift that would be, but I think people are unnecessarily worried about the NTC. It's Gaudreau. As down as people are on him much of the time, you can bet every single team he could be traded to on his NTC would want him and be willing to make it work to get him. He's a gifted first liner in his prime. Those guys aren't easily had.
My feeling is he probably stays, but I think it's just foolish to declare some issue around not getting a deal or trade done before an arbitrary fan-made deadline. The other side of it is that setting an arbitrary deadline for a trade means you're also limiting your trade ability, just in a different. Add to the fact that you're also dealing with an expansion draft this year and it could be a messy thing to try and force something.

??
On July 28th he can be traded to only 5 teams of his choosing.
That is not "fan made".
I agree he likely stays, but only with a firm agreement in hand that both sides are OK with.
Im guessing the parameters for a deal with different teams are already in place and now it comes down to if the two sides can agree or not. If they cant...he is gone.
