Rubbish. Monahan started out that year as the team's #3 centre, and did not become the #1 until the following year. He scored 19 goals and 27 points at even strength; only 3 and 7 on the power play. His average time on ice that year was 15:59, which is emphatically not ‘first-line minutes’. (Backlund and Stajan were both over 18 minutes that year.)
