Im not sure what makes it "smart" to not attend?

Unless we are never going to attend large events again for fear of something their is a vaccination for, what's the issue? Not to mention the majority of this event is both outdoors and in the heat. Two things this virus tends to dislike immensely. Why is this worse than opening restaurants or the return of sporting events?

It's time to start living again and quit being afraid of something almost entirely within ones own control. If their are idiots that refuse to protect themselves, so be it. They can live with the consequences of their choices.
There's a difference between never and another month or so when we'll have 70%+ with both vaccine shots. We're not quite out of this completely so yeah, I would say the smart thing to do is avoid large crowds like the Stampede. Not forever, just now.

I'm with you on the outdoor part but I think it's been demonstrated pretty well in other countries that hot weather does very little to stop the spread.

I'm hoping we don't see a large spike in cases but I expect some increase especially after seeing a picture of people with "Stay away from me if you're vaccinated" shirts at the Stampede. The problem with these idiots is they don't just get themselves sick, but others who can't get vaccinated yet.
