I still look at Ottawa as a potential partner. They can’t think that Brady wants to be there long term. Mediocre fans, brutal rink location, and most important a cheap owner who pinches pennies. Matthew is in a city with a better fanbase, downtown rink with a new one on the horizon and an ownership group who spends to the cap every single year.

Ottawa make no sense. Their top two forwards are both LWs. Even if Stutzle transitions to C, it’s not as though Brady and Matthew would ever play on a line together. And Ottawa face the same flight risk from Matthew if they can’t sign him to an extension.
Their rebuild is already going well. They’re under no pressure to accelerate things and make a big trade. St. Louis, on the other hand, were supposedly poised to make a shakeup before their late season surge.
