There are no legal consequences because the Blues don’t have to trade him. He has a made a request. That’s it. Why should Taresenko unilaterally give up his no trade protection if he’s not getting trade certainty from it?
They may have used the word “officially”, but that was simply their choice of words. It was used in a generic fashion. If it had legal consequences, no player would ever use it.
