I’ve always been the “but somebody could get hurt” guy at parties, so when stuff like this happens, I can get a little judgy as well, but doesn’t make the situation any less sad. Also keep in mind that he may have been concerned about the fireworks and others were still driven to set them off or convinced him it was fine.
It may not have been a stupid way to die as much as a stupid way for someone else to accidentally kill someone. I don’t think we have enough context to know if this was his own personal misadventure.
