I think Seattle would be plenty of aware of this, so there’s nothing stopping them from asking Calgary for the rental rate that Gio would return at the deadline - which lines up with the rumblings that Seattle is asking for a fortune to protect any players league-wide.
Seattle just needs to ask Calgary for a 1st and a 3rd, or perhaps just the 1st…and Calgary just can’t do that. There’s simply no reason for Seattle to ask for any less.
