Giordano's contract in its entirety was a good contract, but like most long term contracts, the tail end is an overpayment for what the player actually brings and Giordano is clearly in that part now. While he is still a good player and not an anchor by any means, by the start of next season, he will be older and still likely on a downward trajectory and declines at his age tend to not be gradual.
Or he could be one of those rare freaks of nature that manages to kick father time's butt for a while. Counting on that isn't a great strategy though.
