I think the Flames are grooming Connor Mackey to fill Giordano's slot. He's already passed Kylington on the depth chart.
The Flames are prepared to lose either Kylington or Giordano. No sense trying to sweeten the pot by floating a pick/prospect to entice Seattle to take one or the other.
Cap savings can be applied up front if it's Giordano taken. Mackey will want a raise but I can't see it being massive.
