Calgary is not going to "try" and have Gio not picked, or give up anything to persuade Seattle to take someone else.

If Gio gets selected by Seattle, we should all jump up and down, and high five. I just don't see Calgary trying to protect him, but I even more so don't see why Seattle would want him, besides the experience and leadership. I am sure they can find a lot of other ways to spend 6.75 million.

Gio is a step behind out there now, and thats what age does to you in this fast game. This is the part of the contract (the last couple of years), that is usually the toughest to stomach, and it has certainly been hard to watch Gio this past season.

Another point is, if Calgary is going to take a step forward, Gio can not be around anymore, and certainly not be the Captain. Calgary fans can only hope this starts this season, and we don't have to wait two more years to see a passing of the torch.

If Calgary and management truly want to change the tides, it starts with changing the leadership.

Anyone think Lucic would be a good Captain for a couple of years?
