Castro going down makes sense, plus he has options so it's an easy choice.
Payamps is a righty and Saucedo is a lefty, and after reading Stoeten mention that the Mariners feature a lefty heavy line up I guess it makes some sense to send down Payamps. However I just don't really get how highly the Jays value Trent Thornton who, imo, is worse than Payamps. Maybe they see Thornton as someone who can eat multiple innings in case of a starter blowing up. But still would rather have Joel in there instead of Thornton as I feel he as shown to be MLB calibre in the pen.
