True. A big non-luck factor that the flames had at the time though was they had… for that period of time the best player on the planet in Jarome Iginla. Media love to throw that “best player/best goalie on the planet” title around a lot these days. I think the flames had that in Iggy during that run. Iginla was as close to unstoppable as it got in the playoffs of the dead puck era. The flames aggressive style of forecheck and defence worked because whenever iggy was on the ice, he could create something - goals, points, scoring chances, hits, fights. To this day I have not seen anything like it in the playoffs since. McKinnon is a close comparison but less physicality of course.
