The thing is there's a loophole the other way too, with black hole RFAs like McAvoy and Hughes. Basically get no RFA rights at all, though they do get through their ELCs a bit faster.
I do think the NHL should just standardize things so there's no difference between prospects based on where they play before turning pro.
