Nobody is arguing he was eligible for the LTIR list. As for coming off I am sure the NHL asked the Lightning team doctors if it was legit and they said of course, what else would they say? They are not going to screw the team that pays their salary. Do you think the NHL really had their own doctors check Kucherov out at any time? I guarantee they didn't, the league is not doing that because the league is pretty Micky Mouse when it comes to enforcing anything, we have seen it time and again. Even then it would be very hard to prove the Lightning held him out to circumvent the cap so the league's hands would be tied anyhow. That doesn't mean TB didn't play the rules like a fiddle to rope the system, they clearly did. I would bet dollars to doughnuts if the playoffs had started a month before they did Kucherov would have played. No doubt. So did they break the rules? Let's just say they knew they could gain an unfair advantage and it would be quite impossible under the rules to prove.
