Maintaining membership is necessary if you want to practice engineering for a whole bunch of good reasons all related to public safety. If what you do doesn't fall under the Act, then you don't' have to be a member; it's that simple. I was shocked to see a a post above about APEGA being "a giant scam". If the poster is not an APEGA member, perhaps, there could be a discussion held. If he is an APEGA member, then such a statement could be a reason for losing one's license and the question would be WTF are you even talking about?
