interesting , admittedly quite trivial, fact they just mentioned- until Roy the other night , Robert was the only French Canadian to score a playoff OT goal against the Habs in Montreal
The Sabres take their two young stars in in the 70 and 71 drafts and then late that season they acquire Robert for Eddie Shack (!!) and the French Connection is born. they clicked almost immediately. by 74-75 Robert is pacing the team with 100 points and is an All star RW while the expansion Sabres tie the Flyers and Habs atop the NHL with 113 points, take out the Habs in the semifinals and then lose to Philly in an all expansion final
yep my favorite team at the time for sure. Increasingly cherishing the autographed FC line picture in our basement, with now 2/3 of the line having passed away
