Pelletier is a year behind Valamaki.. Valimaki had his awesome Jr. year in D+1 and 24 NHL games in D+2.
Dube in D+2 was captain of Gold Medal Team Canada and in D+3 had 25 NHL games. In his D+1 he was more of a spare part on the U20 team. A year makes a huge difference.
Really hard on the development of both Zary 15 junior games, 9 AHL games and the U20 training camp and tourney and Pelletier 28 reg season junior 15 jr Plyoff games and the U20 experience.
Zary has crossed a hurdle in playing pro games... and doing well.
Pelletier has not had that opportunity.
Because of Covid Zary did not have the Junior playoff experience.
All 2019 and 2020 and 2021 draft picks have missed significant development game time. The WJC was a huge advantage for all the guys picked for the training camp. It will be interesting what comes out of these 3 draft classes.
