LW Brennan Othmann,6'0"174lbs (EHC Olten,SL): Played in the Swiss league this year, with no OHL, putting up 7g/9a/16pts,64PIM in 34 games, third for players under 19. He was one of my favorites from the U-18s where he had 6pts in 7 games. He was drafted 2nd overall by Flint (OHL) and in 2019-20, he had 33pts in 55 games-30th for players under 18. Othmann did most of his damage at even-strength, with 14 even-strength goals-and 24 of his EV pts were primary. There's no doubt that if the OHL was playing this year, his numbers would be huge, and he might have lead the league in goals. Othmann is an offensive weapon with plenty of tools, and plays a power game, and drives play.

One of the main pillars of his game is his shooting ability-he has a deadly shot, with a lightning-quick release, and he can get it off at top speed. He has a goal-scorers mentality, and knows how to find the open areas to receive passes, and unleash his hard, heavy and accurate wrister. He has a knack for being at the right spot. Othmann can score from awkward angles that many others can't-he's one of the best goal-scorers in this draft, and the mechanics of his shot are NHL calibre. Othmann is also a quality playmaker with high-end vision, who creates offense for himself and his teammates. He reads the ice extremely well, and always finds time and space to exploit. Top-notch offensive awareness. He fires off accurate passes with mustard. Plays a heavy game, and is hard to handle in the trenches, or in front of the net. Wins more than his fair share of battles in the greasy areas- he's a load in the corners, and along the boards. He is a physical, aggressive, and impactful player, who forechecks hard, and plays a detail-oriented game. Highly competitive. He's creative and shifty in transition.

Othmann is an above-average skater, not quite as fast as some other prospects. He has good edges and agility to give him some elusiveness, and he can stop, or change direction quickly, but he needs work on his acceleration, top-speed, and explosiveness. He still plays a high-pace game, and employs diverse rush patterns to deceive attackers. He also has advanced puck-protection skills. He is reliable in defensive situations, good at disrupting plays, and has an ever-improving 200-ft game-but there's work to do in that area. Like most kids his age, he needs to fill out and get stronger, especially with the kind of game he plays. There is also some aspects of his puck control that he will need to fix for the next level, as he sometimes struggles with his pass-reception while in flight, and can overhandle the puck. Othmann projects as a possible top-line winger in the NHL- one writer compared him to Brendan Morrow.
