The Jones situation is very similar to E Karlsson. Except Jones is about 18 months younger (than EK at the time), and Karlsson was far more distinguished (7 straight years nearly PPG).

OTT ended up with quite the haul, though it may have been lightning in a bottle with a team in complete win-now mode and a cheapskate owner not wanting back any salary...

Demelo
Tierney
Balcers (21 yo with 0 gp at the time; played 36 and 15 in OTT before being waived and claimed back by SJ...17P in 41gp for them this year)
Josh Norris (signing rights - NCAA)

2021 2nd (SJ) - was contingent on re-signing
2019 2nd (FLA)
2020 1st (became Stutzle) - "*Conditions: Ottawa receives Sharks 2019 1st round pick if Sharks do not make the playoffs. If Sharks make the playoffs, Ottawa receives Sharks 2020 1st.
*Result: Sharks made the 2019 playoffs, Ottawa receives Sharks 2020 1st round pick"

Summarized to value at time of trade:

25 yo RHD - 133gp; coming off 63gp 20p season. 2x900k then UFA

24 yo C - 3.5 seasons; coming off 16G 40P season; 2x2.937 then RFA

C prospect picked 19OA the year before; NCAA

21 yo winger prospect; 5th rd pick coming off strong season in AHL (48p in 67 gp)

1st rd pick - most would expect to be in the back half of the round, but OTT achieved a condition that got them 2 chances at a lottery pick, and it paid off hugely.

2nd rd pick (2021) - contingent on re-signing (and upgrades to 1st if SJ had made SCF)

2nd rd pick (2019) - guaranteed, and to be higher of SJ/FLA

*1st rd pick if Karlsson is traded back to East Conference that year

A Jones return would likely be substantially less, but it's a good comparison point.
