This is purely hypothetical but I've heard of rumors of the Flyers, Columbus, and Ottawa all being spots with potential interest in Monahan.
The Flyers one intrigues me because if you are shipping Monahan to Philly then you might as well send Gaudreau there too. Johnny's two best pals in hockey (Monahan and Hayes) playing on his childhood team...good luck keeping him away from there as a UFA.

The way I look at it:
Gaudreau > Konecny
Monahan > Gostisbehere+Patrick
So the 1st is used as the sweetener to even it all out. Maybe it's a 2nd that only turns into a 1st if Gaudreau re-signs with the Flyers.
