Yeah, this is less a women's hockey thing, and much more a reflection of social norms where a woman's value is still much more closely connected to her appearance than a man's. Scars, missing teeth and deformities that come as a result of combat and sports, I think, are largely considered "badges of honour" among men, and we are nowhere near seeing that same sort of valuation among women who continue to be much more heavily stereotyped by their appearance.
