He’s going behind the net and you see Evans does take a peak up, before doing what he should be doing and focusing on putting the puck in the back of the net to seal the game.
I don’t think any player expects a guy to come 150 feet down the ice on a back check and just blow you up in that situation, especially since they are too late to actually stop a goal.
Just a selfish and gutless play by Scheifele and not a “keep your head up” situation at all IMO.

Fair points, well made.
The only thing I want to quibble about is the idea that just because hits on vulnerable players are happening less doesn't mean you can leave your own safety to chance.
3 years ago a piece of heavy equipment was backed onto my foot. The guy driving the machine was out to lunch and made a mistake, but I was the guy that put himself in harms way. If you work in a dangerous environment (construction, professional hockey, etc) you have to look after yourself.
I was very lucky to not suffer permanent damage. Hopefully Evans is ok, too.
