It just doesn't seem like Wallstedt is anywhere near as good as Askarov. There aren't a ton of elite Swedish goalies these days. It seem like they're due, but we'll have to see.

Stylistically, Wallstedt is the more technical goalie-relying on positioning. Askarov is more athletic relying more on reflexes. I would normally say that Askarov is the better goalie, but he’s looked iffy at best in international play. Wallstedt has a history of playing at levels way ahead of his age group, and he excels. He played this year in the men’s league, the SHL, and acquitted himself well. To be fair, Askarov has done the same in the KHL. Perhaps the edge would still go to Askarov.
