If you can't sign Ritchie because you are afraid Sutter will use him too high, that strikes me as (a) a problem with Sutter and (b) a problem with communication with Sutter. If I'm GM I sign him and tell Sutter he's a 4th liner. If Sutter starts playing him top 6, I'm sending poor old Ritchie to the minors right quick.
