This is what I am wearing today at the office and similar to what I wear when going out socially as well. Dressing is pretty simple, especially for a man. For me I think my plan is to just get things that fit you. If you don't know, go dark and plain to be safe. It doesn't matter from where or how much it costs.

Blazer - $100 (Zara - was a full suit but I separated it from the dress pants as the office is casual now)
Skinny Jeans - $20 (Winners sale rack)
Plain long sleeve shirt - $7 (Walmart clearance)
Shoes - $8 (Walmart clearance)
Casio G-Shock GWM5610-1 - $150 (Amazon)

Not bad, I'd rate this about a 7/10 and appreciate the effort.

What I'd like to see more of is some increased contrast between the garments. IMHO, your shirt, jacket and pants are all too close in color, texture and brightness which then places too much attention on your shoes.

Wearing an orphaned suit coat doesn't necessarily 'look bad' its more just 'wrong' - but only a tiny percentage of men would even know the difference. A sport coat in that scenario would add some texture and maybe a bit of pattern to break things up a bit for you.

The shirt would be the easiest upgrade for that outfit. You could have a loud pattern or bright colour which wouldn't overpower things as it's under your jacket but still would add some visual interest.

All in all, you look better than most, but still have some runway for improvements.
