LHD Noah Meier,5'11"170lbs (GK Kusnacht Lions,SL):35gp/1g/19a/20pts, 18PIMs (5th on the men's team in scoring, 1st for D-men by 7pts despite not playing as many games). Meier was called up to the SL, a men's Swiss league, after putting up 8pts in 5 games in the U20 league. He also got an 18 game stint in the National League, with only 1 point. He also played 4 games in the WJC, scoring 1g,1a-and by some accounts, he stabilized the backend.

Meier's skating is top-notch, with a quality first-step, explosive acceleration, and great bursts to win loose pucks. His edges are also strong, and he shows it in his button-hooks. The other main pillar in his game is his passing-he has a vast arsenal of passes, including tape to tape stretch passes, bank passes, saucers, and backhands. He is most dangerous in the offensive zone-he usually stays close to the blueline, looking for passing lanes, and doesn't activate too much. He also doesn't shoot much (only 1.2 shots per game), but he should-he has a quick, hard wrist shot. In transition, he can easily carry up the ice through the neutral zone to the offensive zone by himself, or with a pass, and he can exit and enter with control.

Meier's weaknesses lie in the defensive zone-his gap control gets very mixed reviews, and he's not aggressive or assertive there. This is a problem with many Swiss prospects, but he needs to improve. He is dangerous from the blueline in. He's also one of the oldest players in the draft-he missed the cutoff for last year's draft by 9 days. CS gave him a "B" rating, meaning he's expected to go in the 2nd-3rd round, so there may be something there, he has great numbers in Switzerland. Will probably top out as a bottom-4 defenseman. I think he may be a later-round pick, but his numbers intrigue me.
