Nice dark jeans and a casual long sleeve button-down. Invest in a bunch. Solid colours are great (light blue, light grey, light pink, navy, dark grey, etc.). A pair of light brown chinos, dark brown chinos, black and navy or grey chinos. You can do polos or short sleeve casual button-downs, but just make sure they aren't baggy.
Avoid shirts that are bright white or dark black. Stick to off-whites if you want white and charcoals if you want black (up top, black jeans/chinos are fine).
You can do nicer shoes with chinos, something brown and classic like a wingtip. You can also do a nice boot. Match your belt with your shoes (colour wise).
The key is to choose things that look fitted and sticking to neutral colours is always safe. Straight or slim pants, fitted shirts, a nice belt, and nice shoes, and you'll be looking alright.

Yes, this is me. I look old and lame because I wear dress shirts because I don't know what else to buy for work clothes.
Do you have any recommendations for casual button down long sleeved shirts?
Also, someone else mentioned Allen Edmonds shoes that look more casual than wingtips. Do you think those are acceptable with the look your suggesting here?
Great stuff fellas, keep it coming.
EDIT: I should add that I only wear a suit 3-4 times a year professionally, and I'm more worried about daily driver outfits.
