Not sure if that's fair.. Giving money to Blue Origin is so that there can be a 2nd lunar lander in the program. That was the original intent, but then Congress didn't give as much money as was first planned so NASA picked only one provider; SpaceX. But as is usual with space stuff having all the eggs in one basket is a bad idea.
And Blue Origin is the only other one in the proposals that was even physically possible.
