Dube NEEDS to play center. Hopefully this happens, and he will naturally become Calgarys top line center. He skates incredibly well, and that is his draft position. Calgary is doing to him what they did to Bennett. Forcing him to play wing.
It is so sad to me that a guy like Dube is being put on the wing, when he out skates every one of the Flames centres. A center needs to be FAST. A center must play at both ends, support the D/ the breakout etc. Monahan is WAY too slow to do this at a high level. Lindy is WAY more effective on the wing.
DUBE needs to be playing center for Calgary, regardless of who is in the lineup. He is too smart of a player to be wasted like Sam Bennett did.

Dube is not ready for the center role let alone the #1C role. This isn’t the entitlement thing that Darryl was talking about. You can’t just give the kids the keys to the bus and expect them to take the team to where they need to be. They have to out right steal the position from the top guy and he had enough trouble trying to just stay in the lineup.
I’m a big speed guy and I very much appreciate Dube’s wheels. But there’s more to speed than a guy’s top skating stride. There’s turning, pivoting, acceleration and etc. There’s also speed with the puck which would be very important for him to develop if he were to play up the middle. So I’m not really sure if the other aspects are there just yet. Playing Dube on the wing until he proves he can be a centerman is perfectly fine with me. Lindholm is a decent stopgap for now.
