The Rangers have a lot to offer. However the Sabres may not want Eichel to stay in the East. If that's the case, Rangers will need to pay a premium to make the deal.
The Kings would have to offer Byfield, and at least one of Kaliyev/Turcotte and a 1st rounder I would imagine. Both are great prospects but both are unproven so the Sabres would be taking a risk. Perhaps they would feel that's less of a risk with Byfield and if they get enough rounds in the chamber, they are ok with trading a franchise centre for that.
If they want a proven young player, Kings don't have it. Tkachuk + is the better option for them. Depends on what the Sabres want. A package around Tkachuk going out west would be attractive but if the Kings are willing to ante up Byfield and a couple of their top prospects like Kaliyev, and the Sabres want a package of prospects, then that's the deal they'll go for.
My guess is that Tkachuk is much more highly thought of around the league than we think. Most teams would likely equate any shortcomings to the Flames rather than the player. Especially given what they are seeing with Bennet in Florida. Just my opinion.
