The answer has to be "maybe". If Gaudreau is asking 10x8 then I think they have to move him. If he's willing to actually take a discount in order to help build a stronger team, you keep him. If another team makes an offer that is too good to pass up, you have to take it. If they decide that they have to do a major rebiuld, you have to trade him. If NJ offers up 2 unprotected first round picks and a top prospect, would you really say no? If the only offer you get is a first and a second, it's not worth trading him. If they're only going to "retool" and can actually get Eichel, you keep Johnny to play with him and hope it sticks.

I think they have to explore every option and not just with him. If a team is going to make an incredible offer for any of the players, or if you can get huge returns for multiple players, you have to look at the long term success of the team. I've completely lost faith in Treliving and I really don't think he should be the one making these decisions because I think he's more concerned about himself than the team at this point.
