I think a lot of it has to do with implied credibility.

I'll take Bob Mckenzie as gospel because he's been around forever, he's very connected and he has the self awareness to know that he's not really an expert on hockey itself, so he's measured when talking about that.

Now, obviously we're not getting Mckenzie on 960, but I think the responsibility lies with the radio personality to frame their persona on what their expertise and credibility is.

Pat Steinberg has been around for awhile and he's done some legwork on his advanced stats writing etc. I find he's a bit too measured but if he gives an opinion it's usually backed up by either his credibility, his connections or whatever else.

Boomer is fluff, but he's pretty affable and not overly opinionated fluff. Plus he understands his role and I find him good on the radio. I find Warrener terrible on the radio, but as a guy who played, and with connections within the organization I find he has a ton of credibility with hockey takes.

Pinder, I'm not too sure about. He's been around for awhile and I find him to be a decent radio professional, but I'm not sure where his actual hockey credibility lies. If anything he knows what he is and plays the role of "Just asking questions" and "Just creating conversation"

Klein I thought was good at driving conversation and adding to roundtable conversation with decent points added. Vanilla, but didn't overplay his role.

Nault I think is trying too hard to create a persona for himself. Trying to maybe go the Pinder route. His opinions are a bit too extreme and angry for a guy who for the most part has no more hockey knowledge than any regular fan. But he presents himself as a guy who should be listened to.

I get it, radio is hard. There's a lot of airtime to fill. Plus with covid, I'm guessing access has been limited. But I don't really care to hear an opinion unless you carry some implied credibility, or you can back it up with some legwork you've done.

In my own completely ignorant position of not knowing what goes on behind the scenes. Everything just seems lazy. If its not lazy it's amateur .
