Backlund + Mangiapane is good combo in the 3rd line that can play and shut down other team's 1st or 2nd line and outscore their 3rd line. So better keep Backlund.

Personally, I am not a huge fan of Backlund and think he is overrated. Regardless, can the Flames really afford to pay someone 5+ million to play on the third line? Especially if they have to keep Lucic.
I would rather re-sign Ryan at $2 MM a year to play on the third line and groom Gawdin to become a shut down centre.
