I think if there's a difference in weight between Phillips and Yamamoto, it's negligible. If there's a difference in pedigree, I'd argue it's because one guy is a September birthday and was 18 during his draft year whereas Phillips was 17. If there's a difference in skill, hockey sense, or compete level, it's not something I've seen apparent in my viewings of either player at any level.
One guy, however, does play on an NHL line with a Hart Trophy winner, and the other guy apparently doesn't deserve a look in the NHL.

I’m not sure either side can be trusted, for different reasons. There’s nothing more fudged than player height and weight, including by their own team. MSL’s used to always be exaggerated. I don’t think Gaudreau is 5’9”, and I think Fleury was not even 5’6”.
That said, the fudging would exist for Yamamoto too, so it’s all relative.
