Jim Benning was the AGM of the cup winning Boston Bruins for example. Jason Botterill was AGM for Pittsburgh’s back to back cups. I’m reasonably sure you could also find a GM or two who have come from less successful organizations and gone on to have success elsewhere.

Agreed, it is not that simple. Experience and success can be an important requirement, but that is not always the case. I am okay with the idea of Treliving in the short term if an upgrade is not available. Was typing on the phone while shopping and had left that last tidbit out.
