I don’t think it’s that simple.

Jim Benning was the AGM of the cup winning Boston Bruins for example. Jason Botterill was AGM for Pittsburgh’s back to back cups. I’m reasonably sure you could also find a GM or two who have come from less successful organizations and gone on to have success elsewhere.
